Our Progress to $3,000,000:
Just announced as part of a new design concept, the Greater Cleveland Fisher House will now actually be two homes with 12 – 14 suites and will accommodate up to 50 family members. The houses will be built adjacent to the grounds of The Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in University Circle, Cleveland.
The cost to build The Greater Cleveland Fisher Houses will total approximately $7 Million. The goal of The Greater Cleveland Fisher House Task Force is to fundraise $3 Million. To date, $2,800,000 has been raised for this initiative, primarily from local veterans’ groups and other small grassroots organizations.
Once the $3 Million local goal is reached, The Fisher House Foundation will supply the remainder of the funding and build both of The Greater Cleveland Fisher Houses. Both the Fisher House National Foundation and the VA have assigned Project Managers for Cleveland and the pre-construction due diligence is already underway. The targeted time window for groundbreaking is this year.
The campaign to build the GCFH is a capital campaign and a “one time ask” of the local community. Once built, the host tenant (in this case the Veterans Administration) will be given the keys and going forward will work with the national Fisher House Foundation on day-to-day operations. The houses usually have a full-time staff of 4 – 5. Volunteer support will come from throughout Northeast Ohio.
